Findings: At 2 lbs. 4 oz., this bag is on the heavier end of the spectrum for youth sleeping bags. It is built to the usual high standards of Mountain Hardwear. It compresses well, has a coded stuff sack for easy locating in the old gear room, and is a cool shade of red to boot. There is a small pocket on the outside chest for a head lamp or such. The gusseted hood works well to warm little heads all night long. This is great overall youth bag. What it needs to step ahead of its competitors is a bit a bag bling. A built in pillow or pillow pocket, a cute print on the inside lining, that sort of thing. No, these things don’t really increase performance, but they do increase the happiness factor for some little kids–and after all, we do want kids to be super excited to go to sleep at night when we camp!
