Mountain Hardwear Drifter 3 Tent

Specs per manufacturer: Quick and easy to pitch, guaranteed watertight and made with legendary Mountain Hardwear quality. Two side doors for easy access and two large vestibules stow gear.  Mesh canopy for great ventilation, with privacy panels below.  Strong, 7000 series aluminum poles.  Color coded poles and grommet tabs and reflective starter points make even late-night set up easy.  Superlight option: pitch with fly and Pitch Light™ footprint to shave pounds.

Findings: At $195, this is a lot of tent for the money. It weighs just 6 pounds and so easy to set up, a 5 year old could do it. While the fly does come all the way down to the ground on all sides, it needs additional guy lines on the two ends to provide adequate rain coverage. I sewed in two loops myself to accomplish this goal. If you are not planning on using this tent in rainy/windy conditions, these extra guy lines are unnecessary. You can easily fit 3 people in this tent. You could do 2 parents, 1 med size kid and a little sized kid going perpendicular as well. The dog would have to stay in the vestibule. Speaking of vestibules, there are two roomy ones on either side of the tent. Plenty of room to stash 2 packs on each side. Overall, this is a great entry level tent. It isn’t as tight as higher end tents, but performs very well.
