Findings: I have been a mission for quality kid’s rain gear for awhile now. This packable jacket has a lot of features that I really like. Here’s how Molehill describes it, Our Packables line of wind gear is our most innovative, functional, practical, lightweight line yet. All pieces pack into their own pockets for compact storage in good weather but can be quickly accessed when the weather changes. We’ve utilized a waterproof breathable, micro rip-stop for durability, water repellency, and breathability. Generous back and chest vents with mesh linings add comfort and breathability. Reflective trim and logos add to your child’s safety.
It truly is lightweight and very packable. When you are packing rain gear for lots of kids-or even just one, in your pack, packability is really important. Every little bit of space really matters. The reflective trim is nice, but not a selling point to me. There isn’t enough of it to really make a huge difference. I also like the low profile in the back which covers the kid’s behind well. This is an important feature in kids’ wear as kids are often bending down looking at stuff, you want their backside covered. The hood is large enough to easily fit over a hat or fleece jacket hood and has a small visor for more protection. We have the cobalt/cinder color combo, it does come in other colors as well. I would like to see a mango or other bright color for visibility. Being involved with search & rescue has made me a fan of kids being visible in the woods! This jacket isn’t really intended for heavy rain, but for the average wet stuff, it is a great little jacket. And as an added bonus, the bugs can’t get through it! Well worth the money!

Findings: I’d say, ditto on everything from the Packable Jacket. I really like the elasticized ankle. This is important to be able to pull the pants over the rain boots and have them stay there. Many pants just have velcro which doesn’t work well over boots. These are great pants and should be a part of every kid’s gear stash!
