Findings: Found this Dark Cedar Precip jacket at REI, liked the color, the extremely light weight, and the ventilation. I picked it up, and it promptly served as a fantastic protection from the wettest summer on record here in Anchorage. It’s first test was at Hatcher Pass, when a storm blew up from the valley, and what was a drizzle changed to a steady rainfall. The ventilation functioned perfectly, and I never got that soggy feeling from cheap rainwear, in which the rain and sweat combine to make you feel like you’re wearing a garbage bag. I roll the jacket up and carry it on the outside of my Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II field bag, so it’s always ready on a hike.
