Findings: Thanks to Danette for this great review
I had an amazing opportunity to try out the Junonia Snow Bunny Anorak Ski Jacket. I am a huge fan of the Junonia line as they have clothing made for active women who have curves. The items I have tried in the past have been well made, fit perfectly, and wore like iron.
First off, I selected the melon color. The color is simply amazing. I get compliments all the time from random strangers. The lining is plain black, I think a fun print would have also made a nice lining. I love the topstitching and the embroidered logo. The fabric is waterproof and any dirt cleans off easily. The fabric did sound a little “crinkly” in extreme cold, but hey, what do you expect in subzero temperatures. I love the large metal snaps as well as the adjustable elastic at the waist.
The pockets, oh my, this jacket has pockets. They even thought of the small pocket on the left forearm for your ski pass (or a chap stick). It is easy to store your IPod and headphones in the inner pocket. All the pockets are easy to access and secure effortlessly.
Thank you for making a jacket that fits all my curves without making me look like the Michelin Man. The jacket was designed to show my figure without adding additional bulk. The length is well suited for general wear or for downhill skiing. I would not recommend it for Nordic skiing as it would become too hot and bulky quickly.
The jacket has an ample hood that would easily cover a ski helmet. I think for general wear, I would remove the hood as it becomes quite bulky around the neck when you are walking about town.
The warmth of this jacket is its biggest strength and weakness. I tested it to 20 degrees below zero and it was very warm and snuggly. I would have no hesitation wearing the jacket in the harshest of conditions. I did find myself wanting to remove the jacket as soon as I got inside a building or my car. It just got to warm to wear. For some people, this could not be considered a problem. I found myself unzipping the jacket even in the cold weather to chill off a little.
I would like to thank Jenn and Junonia for opportunity to try this jacket. It is refreshing to see beautifully made outdoor wear and athletic gear for plus sized but very athletically active women.
