Findings: I am usually pretty wary of solar powered lights. Often, they aren’t very bright, take forever to charge up and inevitably lose their recharge ability. Luci is the exception. She charged up right away, even on a cloudy day. The light is bright (10 LED lights equalling 65 Lumens) and distributes nicely to light up a room (10 cubic feet). I haven’t tried it out camping yet but only because we really don’t need light camping in Alaska summers. You’ll have to wait till late fall or winter for the camping review. At 4 oz, I won’t find packing it to be a problem on any trip. The light weight will also be great for easy hanging from cording in the tent or in the cabin. A full charge of 8 hours produces 12 hours of light at the max setting. I suppose it is cool that it floats, but can’t think of a practical advantage to that while camping. Waterproof is however a great thing! I think I’ll buy a bunch of these for Christmas presents this year–they will make fantastic stocking stuffers.
