Findings: Cabin Baby primarily makes pouch slings in really cool fabrics, but she also makes some custom clothing items as well. My favorite is her winter hat for toddlers. It provides excellent coverage of little heads, ears and the back of the neck. It has a velcro closure at the chin and actually stays on really well.
She also makes a big kid version out of wind lock fleece. It is super warm! It doesn’t have the chin closure, but older kids really don’t need it either. My two older kids have them and when it is really cold, it is all they wear! They fit nicely under their ski helmets too.
Everything they make is well made. There are no raw edges anywhere. They are super soft. They wash up great. And they come is great colors. If you are planning on taking your little ones out in the snow, you have to have these hats!

Findings: Over the years I’ve used lots of different baby carriers. I carried all my kids, all day long at work for 15 months each, so I’ve had a fair amount of babywearing experience. I probably own at least a dozen different carriers. I have wraps, ring slings, hip hammocks, frame backpacks and more. But for ease of use, size, flexibility and general comfort, I’m a pouch sling fan. When my twins were newborns, both could fit in one sling.
The Cabin Baby slings are very well made and come sized just for your body. I used to have a New Native Baby Carrier that was too big for me and it slopped all over the place when I used it. Pouch slings are not my favorite for backpacking. I prefer to have the weight evenly distributed on my shoulders when I’m carrying a full pack. The wraps, Mei Teis and even the Ergos are better for this. But for day hikes and day to day life when I’m not carrying a bunch of weight on my back I always go for the sling. We also found out on one trip that the sling can double as a first aid sling! One of my kids broke his arm on a trip and we immobilized his arm in the baby sling! I love a product that does double duty!
