Findings: Muck Boots Woody Bayou Boot – These boots have gotten more comments than any of my gear here in Alaska, which is impressive, since I have a gear collection spanning decades. In a culture of “XtraTuffs” (the Costco waterproof boots) these boots draw attention, from their well lugged sole, to the expandable thigh gaiter. The usefulness of the expandable waterproof leg coverings aside, the best part of the boot is the comfort. The neoprene and “structured airmesh” keep your feet unbelievably comfortable in every condition. I worked ten and twelve hour days in these boots, without the soggy sweat of PVC boots. They remained comfortable the whole time, slogging through mud, swamp, bending down, crouching and hewing logs while restoring a cabin. I’m almost tempted to buy another pair, just in case they stop making them… they’re THAT good.
